Fairly early on in my pregnancy, around the start of my third trimester, my clothes started getting tight, the baby was sitting low in my pelvis, and I’m a person who already carries my weight in my belly, styles these days lean towards high-waisted, so I outgrew many of my regular clothes early on. Thus began my hunt for clothes! I would need casual pieces, work clothes, gym clothes, and maybe even a few nicer outfits, with that in mind, I’ve gotten clothes from Amazon, Target, Old Navy, StitchFix, Seraphine, Summer Mae, Pink Blush, Angel Maternity, Mother Bee Maternity, Fabletics, Madewell, Etsy … I’m sure I’m forgetting some more that I’ve tried, but I’m reviewing them all!!
I previously wore exclusively highwaist leggings, so these very quickly became something I couldn’t fit into. I tried two pairs of Old Navy maternity leggings and while they were fine, they were just that, you get what you pay for, I suppose (these are usually on sale for <$15, often <$10!). They didn’t stretch as much, and the maternal quality just wasn’t what I’ve become used to with my nicer brands, and if I had waited until my third trimester and would only be wearing them for a few weeks, it would have been fine, but I needed them around Week 14.
Thankfully, Fabletics now makes maternity clothes! I invested in two pairs of leggings, two tanks, two pairs of biker shorts, and two sports bras (that are also nursing bras!) and have been living in these since Month 4
High-waisted PureLuxe Maternity ⅞ legging. I wear size S, they stay up while working out, squatting, or walking, are insanely comfortable, breathable, and have pockets on both sides.
Maternity Nursing Bra. I wear size M. Most of my pre-preg sports bras were high impact, so very quickly I stopped being able to wear those. I had a few yoga-style or not as tight bras that worked through my second trimester, but once I hit the 3rd and my chest started growing again, these have been all I can wear.
High-waisted PureLuxe Maternity 9” Short. I thought i would really love these biker shorts, and for biker shorts, I do love them. But what i realized is that my favorite use pre-preg of biker shorts was for running in just shorts and a sports bra, because it hid my pudgy belly, but now that the belly’s big and I’m not running, I don’t find as much use. They’re good for working out still and still good quality, but if you didn’t like biker shorts before pregnancy, you probably won’t now. I still find myself wearing my pre-preg shorties often.
Mariel Maternity Tank. I wear size M. I love that this one didn’t look like a tent originally, but is flowy enough that i’ve been able to wear it since i outgrew my fitted pre-preg stuff and it’s an athletic breathable material, so it’s good for cardio and all exercises.
If you’re not already a Fabletics member, you can sign up here and get some FANTASTIC deals on your first purchase, following that, you can skip the month and still wind up with some awesome sales! I’m not skipping months at the moment, but planning on banking my monthly credits for the next few months and rewarding myself once the baby arrives with a new workout outfit every time I hit a fitness milestone <3. This Meditate two-piece set is high on my wishlist!
I’m trying to stay active, it’s getting harder, and I’m getting lazier, but I don’t want to get out of the habit because it certainly won’t be any easier once Baby B is here. Physical therapy has definitely been helping!!
