While on O’ahu for work, my husband and I decided that the only “main” island we hadn’t been to yet was Hawai’i island! We’ve been talking about it for years, but never had time in our schedules to make it work. This time, I had court on Thursday and Tuesday, so we had a free weekend!!

Flew on Hawaiian Airlines into Kailua-Kona airport, hopped in our soft-top Jeep rental (Dollar made it pretty easy to choose a Jeep beforehand!)

First stop: [[coffee shop]] + [[chocolate shop]]

Second stop: [[Kalao – Kaulana, Awalua, ‘Ōhiki]] **lots of walking here, I was in fashion flip flops and they were the wrong choice. bring water remote and beautiful

drive around the island, love the super open Jeep!

Third Stop: Hilton Waikaloa Village

Fourth Stop: Lava Lava Beach Club

Fifth Stop: Merriman’s (Original Hawai’i location)

back to the hotel, we crashed and were up early with the sun!

First Stop: [[coffee]]

more driving, it really is expansive and beautiful

Second Stop: Punalu’u Beach — Aloha, Turtles!

🎶on the road again, we’re on the road again🎶

Third Stop: Volcano National Park

Quick stop: Thai food truck near the Park

the drives around this area are like a highway version of The Road to Hana

Fourth Stop: Kukuihaele and the Waipi’o Valley look out [[have you seen The Descendants?]]

Finally: hustle back to the airport to catch the earlier flight to HNL so we could visit the BEST TIKI BAR in Hawai’i!
