just a lawyer adding whimsy to your day by mixing cocktails, and eating my way through vacations

I grew up horseback riding and it has always been one of my favorite ways to explore somewhere. As a person who is still learning to love nature, it’s awesome to be a few feet off the ground, a a person who loves the feeling of wind in my hair, trotting and cantering up the mountainside is incredible. We went to Mendes Ranch on the wet shore and rode along the mountainside with a guide. It was such a unique way to see the island-side. I’m constantly amazed at how many cultures and biomes can exist on one small island! It was a little dry and dusty and, apart from the vistas, I could have been riding a horse on a ranch in Colorado! I definitely recommend this a an activity in Maui.
It wan’t quite a martini, but I still loved saying that I ordered a martini & a panini while wearing a bikini at Bistro Molokini! The frozen mojito at the Grand Wailea is shockingly good! You wouldn’t think that blended mint would go so well. Honestly, this is only one of two drinks that we ordered poolside- the rest, we made in our hotel room with fresh fruits from the road-side fruit stands.
Several people recommended that we go to Mama’s Fishhouse, one of the very best restaurants on Maui. Every single bite of food was absolutely phenomenal and it was the perfect place for our last night on Maui, celebrating our anniversary, and watching the sunset.
Pictured here is the private beach at Mama’s; our dinner selections; few cocktails; and anniversary celebrations. My favorite was dessert: “The Black Pearl”- lilikoi chocolate mouse, lilikoi syrup, tempered chocolate shell, presented in a biscuit clamshell. Probably the best discovery of our Maui trip was that the lilikoi is a Hawaiian passionfruit- anytime I saw it on a menu, I literally bounced with excitement!
After dinner, we went straight to the airport and caught the last flight out to Honolulu.
